Booker T. Washington High School

Houston, Texas

Replacing the original High School campus constructed in 1958, the HISD new 18,000 GSF Booker T. Washington High School accommodates between 1,100 and 1,200 students. The existing High School campus contained classrooms and office facilities as well as baseball and football fields with associated parking areas. HISD acquired an additional fourteen (14) acres of residential property north of the existing campus for the construction of the new campus. The new campus included the construction of new classrooms, laboratories, a cafeteria, and auditorium as well as new parking facilities, access road, and utility infrastructure. The project site incorporated Low Impact Development (LID) storm water strategies for water quality treatment measures.

The GarzaEMC team provided full civil engineering services for the new campus including site design, grading and drainage, utility infrastructure, permitting and construction administration services. This campus also houses the Futures Academy of Engineering Sciences at Washington.
