Civil Engineer Associate (EIT) - Land Development - Austin, Texas
Civil Engineer Associate (EIT) - Infrastructure - Austin, Texas

GarzaEMC is a collaborative Team where each of our offices work together. The primary purpose of the Engineer Associate is to assist the project engineer and project managers in developing and processing design projects by performing due diligence, engineering calculations and design, and technical writing. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Performing due diligence and research tasks
  • Assisting in preparation and monitoring of project schedules
  • Performing design tasks under the supervision of Project Engineer 
  • Assisting with design and drawing development in AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Assisting with the preparation of engineering plans and reports  
  • Coordinating with regulatory review agencies  
  • Assisting with monitoring of work for compliance to applicable codes and design criteria
  • Providing technical assistance during the construction phases
  • Ensuring internal approval of assigned tasks when completed
  • Effectively communicating with other team members
  • Relevant project design, including roadways, water/wastewater utility design, water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations

 

Required Licensing, Education & Experience:

  • E.I.T. Registration Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Working towards becoming a licensed Professional Engineer
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, and PondPack.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, WaterCAD, Sewer CAD, Microstation and other water-based modeling software
Professional Civil Engineer (PE) - Land Development - All Locations

GarzaEMC is a collaborative Team where each of our offices work together. A Professional Engineer should act as an “Assistant Project Manager”, well-versed in project design, financials, and schedules. They are the point of contact for clients if the Project Manager is unavailable and must be able to coordinate with other team members at all levels, both internal and external to the company. The primary role of the Professional Engineer is ensuring the completion of the engineering design and management of any permitting requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, scheduling, coordinating, and ensuring completion of project tasks
  • Completion of project engineering design elements, technical analyses, etc.
  • Management of project design and construction document development in AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Managing and coordinating project permitting efforts

Project Manager (PM) - Civil Engineering, Land Development & Infrastructure - All Locations

GarzaEMC is a collaborative Team where each of our offices work together. The Project Manager is the primary person on each project responsible for management, preparation and coordination of all technical and financial activities on assigned projects. Effective communication is a must for this position. He or she is the primary representative for Client and jurisdictional agency personnel, as well as for coordination of internal activities of the project. The Project Manager manages multiple projects and staff on client delivery and technical aspects of a project from start to finish, from proposal and due diligence to project completion and acceptance.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Management of planning, scheduling, coordinating, and completion of project tasks
  • Management of project engineering design elements
  • Overseeing project permitting efforts
  • Effectively communicating with project design, ownership, and construction teams
  • Managing and monitoring project progress, schedules and budgets
  • Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals and management of project invoicing
  • Management of client experience and satisfaction

CAD Operator - Civil Engineering, Land Development - Austin & Houston, Texas

As a CAD Operator, you’ll support engineers and designers on assigned projects. Your tasks include drafting detailed drawings from sketches, plans, and specifications, as well as written and verbal instructions while utilizing computer-aided drafting programs. Relevant basic drawing elements include, but are not limited to, surfaces, corridors, and utility alignments. The CAD Operator will implement feedback from the team and engineers, revise or change drawings, copy existing drawings, and should be able to complete simple calculations with specific instructions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for producing construction drawings on many concurrent projects
  • Completes minimal site layout, dimension control plans, redline cleanup, detail sheet setup, plotting, exhibits for engineering reports, and minor hand drafting
  • Lays out and scales the components of each drawing, prepares the appropriate plot plans, section views, elevations, and details required
  • Completes assigned basic drafting work and notes
  • Completes work within defined project scope and budget
  • Completes redlines/design changes as directed
  • Adds dimension controls and typical callouts
  • Demonstrates understanding of coordinate systems
  • Sets up full plan set independently
  • Creates and maintains sheet sets
  • Recommends best practices and process improvements
  • Ability to prioritizes projects

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of CAD Standards
  • Basic understanding of enhanced 3D Software
  • Experience setting up basic elements in 3D Software
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent technical design skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Experienced with linear work such as roads, water and sewer projects
  • Experienced with software programs, including AutoCAD Civil3D, GIS, AutoTurn, and Adobe Acrobat

Payroll & Benefits Specialist - Austin, Texas

As an integral member of the human resources team, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist works to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and related reporting and administers company benefits programs. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist must have a professional presentation, superior interpersonal skills over the phone and in person, and must thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven, ever-changing environment.

 

Essential Functions

  • Performs tasks necessary to prepare paychecks and maintain payroll and benefit records accurately and timely.
  • Enters, maintains, and updates employee records for salary, benefits, tax deductions and loan repayments.
  • Processes paperwork for new employees and enters employee information into the payroll system.
  • Reviews and posts employee timesheets.
  • Ensures timely and accurate payment of payroll taxes, wage garnishments, and 401K, HSA, and FSA contributions.
  • Assists in the preparation of all federal and multi-state payroll tax reports, including quarterly and year-end returns.
  • Keeps up to date on changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process.
  • Conducts verifications of employment.
  • Administers and explains benefits to employees, serving as liaison between employees and insurance carriers.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assists in accurate and current recordkeeping of human resources information, including verification of employment documents and forms, data entry and filing.
  • Coordinates new employee on-boarding process, including orientations and maintain all necessary packets and forms.
  • Additional responsibilities as outlined in the employee’s goals or as assigned by manager.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Education

  • Thorough understanding of payroll administration and compliance.
  • Basic understanding of human resources management.
  • Ability to handle high degrees of confidentiality with discretion.
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications, including but not limited to, human resources information system, enterprise software and other applications or websites for tracking and reporting benefits and personnel information.
  • Has at least 2-4 years’ relevant experience.
  • Deltek Ajera experience is a plus
