PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project was prepared for the proposed City of Buda Municipal Buildings Complex Project. The project site is located in Buda, Texas along North Main Street between the intersections of East Loop Street and Hawk Lane. The proposed complex will house the Buda city hall, public library, public safety offices, as well as the city emergency services offices.  As the Civil Engineer for this project, Garza EMC provided a hydrologic and hydraulic report that was part of an overall feasibility study for the City of Buda Municipal Building Complex Project.  The hydrologic and hydraulic report focused on three main objectives.  First, Garza EMC determined a conservative peak flow rate for a flooding event similar to that experienced in downtown Buda on Friday, October 30th, 2015 (in excess of the 500-year event) utilizing previous hydrologic studies, empirical observations, and original hydrologic modeling.

Second, using the peak flow mentioned above, a hydraulic analysis of the conceptual channel section and culvert configuration was performed. Third, Garza EMC recommended an alternate proposed channel and culvert design in the event that the conceptual channel and culvert configuration were undersized to convey the 500 year peak flow.
